Habiba Zerkaoui Drias received the MS degree in computer science from Case Western Reserve University Cleveland Ohio USA in 1984 and the Ph.D degree in computer science from the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene (USTHB) Algiers Algeria in collaboration with Université Pierre et Marie Curie Paris6 France in 1993. By the past, she headed the Computer Science Institute of the USTHB and then the Algerian National Institute of Informatics (becoming now ESI). In terms of education, she has taught computer science and artificial intelligence at Algiers and abroad and is right now a full professor at the USTHB. She founded in 2009 a M.S. program on intelligent computer systems and wrote three books on respectively the computer architecture, the design, analysis and complexity of algorithms and the computer languages compiling. On the research side, she has published more than 200 papers in well-recognized international conference proceedings and journals and has conducted 6 national research projects and 3 international ones. She is now a member of the scientific council of the research agency in sciences and technologies (ATRST) and the head of the laboratory of research in artificial intelligence (LRIA). Besides, she has attended and organized many international conferences in artificial intelligence and has served as an active member in many other academic and research structures, as well as in national and international conferences and journals committees. Concerning students’ supervision, she has directed 23 doctoral theses, 55 master theses and 42 engineer projects and has participated in more than a hundred national and overseas doctoral thesis defence juries. In 2013, she won the Algerian ‘Scopus’ award in computer science and in 2015, she was selected by a jury of international academicians as a founding member of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology.
